“Nothing Can Dim the Light That Shines from Within.”

~Maya Angelou

Julia’s Light Foundation was created in memory of our daughter, Julia Grayce Acuna, who tragically died during childbirth on December 4, 2016.

The mission of Julia’s Light Foundation is to advocate, support, and raise awareness for families suffering the loss of a baby during pregnancy or infancy.

Julia’s Light Foundation’s mission also includes promoting awareness by shining a light on potential complications during a vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC) through education and advocacy work with families and medical/nursing students. In addition, Julia’s Light Foundation supports grieving families after the loss of a baby during pregnancy and infancy through outreach programs.

To honor the life of our daughter, who left too soon, we want to bring comfort and peace to children in need. Together, we can keep Julia’s light shining brightly and continue to give her beautiful life meaning.

Wave of Light for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day

On October 15, we invite families, friends, and community members to participate in a global movement – The International Wave of Light.  At 7:00 p.m., in all time zones around the world, candles are lit for an hour to honor our babies gone too soon, creating a continuous wave of light throughout the world.

During our community event on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, we create a beautiful and peaceful space filled with candles, personalized mementos, music, stories of hope, and, most of all, love.

If you cannot attend, or prefer to light a candle at home, you can still register to have your baby's/babies' name(s) read during the ceremony.  A video of the ceremony will be posted.

Registration is required and will close on October 8, 2026. Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to attend, out of respect and sensitivity for some of our guests.

Charity and Community

Julia’s Light Foundation helps children in need by providing smiles, support, comfort, and nourishment. Our annual Toy and Donation Drive, in honor of Julia’s birthday, is an important and special initiative.

Shine a Light

Advocacy and Awareness

Julia’s Light offers monthly support group meetings and community events such as The Wave of Light and The Family Picnic and Planting Night to promote connection, support, hope and healing for families who are dealing with the ripple effects of losing a baby.

In addition, our goal is to advocate for prenatal patients and spread awareness regarding complications during labor and delivery that result in newborn death. Our primary focus is to provide information to medical professionals and mothers who are undergoing a VBAC.

We want to shine a bright light on the risks and warning signs of uterine rupture to prevent this complication.
